Tamarack, Algonquin’s only cone-bearing tree that drops all its needles, is showing increasing intensities of yellow/golden-yellow depending upon the exact location. The maple understory is retaining its fall colour at the ground level making for good photographic opportunities along the Park's interpretive trails.Īspen (Poplar) have reached their peak yellow colour, and are now slightly in decline depending upon the location. Recent strong wind and heavy rain as made maples quickly become bare in the crowns (tops). Sugar Maples, now past peak, have experienced a relatively calm late September and early October allowing many visitors to observe their fall colour over a prolonged period.
